There are some weddings that I know I’ll look back on and remember as so much more than just a wedding I photographed — and Brightyn and Matthew’s will forever be one of those for me.
My time with these two started long before their wedding day when I photographed their engagement session, and somewhere between then and September 19, I became more involved in the planning of their wedding than I ever had been before. And honestly, I loved every second of it. Brightyn, her mom, Mrs. Kimber, and I met multiple times leading up to the wedding just to talk through ideas, plans, timelines, details, and everything in between. By the time the wedding actually arrived, it felt so much more personal than simply showing up to photograph their day. At this point, I genuinely feel like Brightyn and her family have become family/friends to me too.
And then there was the wedding itself.
It is hard to put the entire essence of this day into words. Farmhouse Francis, the florals, the décor, the clothes, the people, the little details — all of it came together in a way that felt completely timeless. Classy, intimate, old-money, traditional and yet somehow unconventional at the exact same time. Nothing felt like it was trying too hard to be anything. It just was.
Even after the wedding, Mrs. Kimber and I were texting about how perfectly everything had worked out. Looking back at all the little connections, conversations, decisions, and unexpected turns that led us to this day, it truly felt like God had His hand in every part of it. Things came together in ways that we probably couldn't have planned any better ourselves.
The day wasn't special because everything followed some perfectly scripted plan. It was special because it was theirs. It evolved, we adjusted, we laughed, plans changed, and somehow every piece landed exactly where it needed to. That's probably my favorite thing about it — it was perfect in the most unconventional way while still feeling so deeply traditional.
And I can't write about this wedding without mentioning the incredible group of vendors who brought it all together. Getting to work alongside such a talented and genuinely wonderful group of people made an already special day that much better. Everyone cared about the same thing: giving Brightyn and Matthew the wedding they deserved.
From photographing their engagement session, to all of the meetings and conversations in between, to watching Brightyn walk down that staircase on her wedding day, to the ceremony, the celebration, the portraits, the private moments, and everything that happened in between — being trusted to document this season of their lives has meant more to me than I can probably put into a blog post.
Somehow, it all just worked. And it couldn't have been more perfect.
